Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) was announced as Trump’s pick for leading the Justice Department on Wednesday—surprising many Republicans in Washington. Republican Rep. Max Miller (Ohio) said he does not think Gaetz will be confirmed by the Senate, adding that he is not the only lawmaker “happy” the lower chamber would be rid of him.

The Florida congressman would be the first U.S. attorney general in four decades who never worked as a government attorney or judge.

The former Florida congressman and staunch Trump ally has been tapped to be the U.S. Attorney General. There is concern over the nomination because if confirmed, Gaetz would run a department that investigated him for sex trafficking.

And so Trump's choice of Gaetz for this crucial role is a signal to those Republicans, too - his second administration will be staffed by loyalists who he trusts to enact his agenda, conventional political opinion be damned.
