Shasta County law enforcement have received multiple reports of text messages and social media posts of possible weapons near with schools.

On Wednesday, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report from a school official with the Cottonwood School District about a possible school violence incident.

There’s been a rise in school threats across the country and some are happening in Eastern North Carolina. Onslow County Sheriff Chris Thomas said a post outlining a possible plan of a threat has been going around social media for more than a week.
