No rotating support – just a simple (symmetric) clamp of the cable up top. You can’t have the electromagnet pushing, like this one, and expect to not change the plane of rotation.
Mount the electromagnet on the cart using the mounting pole, clamp, and wooden blocks. Connect the electromagnet to the blowpipe with strain-relieved cables. Connect wire across the blowpipe exit.
Wind the insulated wire tightly around the nail to make an electromagnet. Set up the equipment as shown in the diagram. Adjust the power pack so that a current of 0.1 A flows.
