Compete, watch or play with nothing on the line — all options are on the table at the second annual Capital City Cornhole Classic, set for Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Capitol Mall.

Xtreme Cornhole, which opened earlier this month in Elizabethtown's Towne Mall, allows players to navigate obstacles on cornhole boards through a 14-hole course that's similar to mini-golf.

Under the association rules, the cornhole court has two boards whose front edges are 27 feet apart. The boards have a hole in them, and players must toss a bean bag into the hole for three points.

The couple started working on cornhole boards in their garage, and worked on perfecting their craft. "From our garage, I started hand painting probably 6 years ago," Christina Payen said.
