The Google Pixel 6 series will be made in China because of COVID-19, it seems. According to a report by Nikkei, COVID-19 in Asia are making it difficult for Google to move the production to Vietnam.

The Pixel 5 was supposed to be produced in the country last year, but instead ended up being built in Shenzen, China, due to travel restrictions and “limited engineering resources” in Vietnam.

This led to Google’s Pixel 4 phone being manufactured partly in Vietnam, with the company planning to repeat that again this year with its new low-cost Pixel 4a as well as its next flagship model.

The Pixel 6 will be manufactured in China, just like the Pixel 5 last year. This suggests that Pixel 6 release delays shouldn’t be a worry. Google stayed in China to avoid manufacturing issues.
