The basin collects sediment from the upper reservoir so it doesn’t spill into the lower reservoir, and every couple of years, crews remove the sediment.

Starting in November 2023, DEQ inspectors found that grading began in some areas before the installation of perimeter controls to limit erosion, such as silt fences and sediment basins.
