If you have the space I like going with 30" width for the extra room for cable management. ... to the generic two-post rack, ... cable management which I find great in our server racks.

I've got a 4 post 42U rack in my basement office right now with a single server in it. It's a rental house so I didn't worry about making it pretty until we move and I build it into a room like above.
