SPS calendar for next school year includes full week off for Thanksgiving More than 4,400 parents and teachers weighed in on two calendar options for the 2023-24 school year.

The district’s one-week Thanksgiving break dates to the 2012-13 school year and was an attempt to make mandatory furlough days “more palatable,” said school Operations Chief Andrés Chait.

This week, the district released three draft calendars that could be implemented next school year. The drafts show students with Mondays off, Fridays off, or a traditional 5-day school week.
