Boeing is shaking up the leadership of its space and defense unit, which has been reeling from mounting losses and high-profile technical problems with its Starliner spacecraft.

Boeing BA.N said on Friday that Ted Colbert, president and CEO of its defense, space and security unit will be leaving the company effective immediately.

Kelly Ortberg, Boeing ’s new CEO, announced the move in a statement to employees just before the close of business on Sept. 20. In the announcement, Ortberg said the change comes as the company is looking to improve its relationship with the U.S. government.
