No wind at Kapalua means no stopping record scoring
There's nothing wrong with The Sentry at Kapalua that a little wind — or any wind — can't fix. Hideki Matsuyama set a PGA Tour record to par for 72 holes when his worst round of the week was a 65 and he finished at 35-under par.

The Sentry, a limited-field, no-cut signature event to kick off the PGA Tour's season, is down to the final round. There were originally 65 players eligible, but the tournament teed off on Thursday with 59 golfers. Only one will hoist the 35-pound trophy Sunday evening in Maui.

Morikawa finished runner-up at The Sentry for the second time in three years on Sunday, coming up three shots short of Matsuyama's PGA Tour-record, 72-hole score.

It's the first albatross on tour in 2025, and it boosted Pendrith from 17 under to 20 under for the tournament. He added a birdie on 8, and as of current writing, he's playing No. 12 and tied for fourth place—well behind Hideki Matsuyama—but set up for a nice payday nonetheless, and gaining three strokes on a single hole certainly helped his cause.
