Oscar Piastri never expected to be allowed past Lando Norris under McLaren team orders at Silverstone. But, the Championship leader does not believe he did “anything wrong” by making the request, after his 10-second penalty gifted a first home race victory to Norris.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella says he has no issues with Oscar Piastri's request to consider team orders after his Formula 1 British Grand Prix penalty. Piastri saw his bid to win the British Grand Prix ruined when he was deemed to brake erratically behind the safety car on lap 21,

Oscar Piastri aims to use the “frustration” he feels at the penalty which cost him victory at the British Grand Prix as motivation to win more races as he chases the F1 title.

The lead car can dictate the pace of the restart, but Piastri was pinged by race stewards for "suddenly" braking. He received a 10-second time penalty, which he served during a pitstop. As a result, McLaren teammate Lando Norris took the race lead and went on to claim victory in his home Grand Prix.

McLaren ended up first and second at the British Grand Prix, though the finishing order of the drivers caused plenty of controversy.
