OpenAI has expanded its latest AI models, o1-preview and o1-mini, to ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu customers, offering advanced reasoning capabilities for complex problem-solving in business and education.

If you want to try the o1 models for yourself, you can create a free ChatGPT account, sign in, toggle "alpha modes" from the model picker, and choose o1-mini. If you want to try o1-preview, you'll have to subscribe to a ChatGPT Plus account for $20 per month.

While OpenAI basks in the glory of the o1 launch, Google is quietly working on a model that could surpass it. Since last December, when Google launched Gemini, the two companies have been locked in a competitive battle to outperform each other.

Last week, OpenAI released “o1,” a new AI model that can reason through hard problems by breaking them down to their component parts and handling them step by step.
