LDMA (lost dutchmans mining association) and GPAA (gold prospecting association of america) have a gold camp in cleveland, ga. and in both south and north carolina. To use the camp you must be a LDMA member or a guest of one. You will find flake gold and a picker every now and then, but it fun.

Sep 28, 2017 · Gold is rare and so are gold mines. Alabama keeps a record and map of all the mines in the State. The Alabama Dept. of Labor, Inspections Division, Abandoned Mine Land Program, Alabama Mine Map Repository is where you will find those maps. I imagine Georgia has something similar. The Cherokee did not live in the Georgia gold areas before 1700.

I understand there is a mineral belt in GA where gold has been mined in the past. GA was the big gold producer until the discoveries in 1849. Feb 13, 2015 · Most of GA is a "bit of fine gold" if you're panning or sluicing. If you find 2-5 colors per pan that's good. If you want good gold... you have to dredge down to bedrock. (Hence the reason the gold rush moved to CA) GNG charges $15 for 1/2 day $25 full day. That includes their dirt. You can pan or sluice for that. 95 acres and no worries.
