The route follows the North South Freeway between I-676 in south Camden and I-295/Route 42 at Bellmawr. All of the Interstate portion of the North South Freeway opened in conjunction with the Walt Whitman Bridge on May 16, 1957. 1

Jan 8, 2020 · The I-676 loop through Central Philadelphia and Camden, New Jersey was designated as Interstate 80S in 1958 while the the Schuylkill Expressway through South Philadelphia and the Walt Whitman Bridge were a part of Interstate 680. I-80S and I-680 were renumbered as I-76 and I-676 respectively in 1964.

Feb 13, 2009 · All transit options go north and then across the Ben Franklin Bridge. So if you're commuting from say Collingswood to the airport (PHL) you have to go north, across the bridge and back further south from where you started. Kind of backward, though not exactly a surprise given the area...just curious if anyone knows why.

Nov 21, 2022 · Interstate 76C is an unsigned route spurring 1.35 miles east from the interchange with I-676 at the east end of the Walt Whitman Bridge to U.S. 130 (Crescent Boulevard) in south Camden and Route 168 (Black Horse Pike) at Audubon Park. The freeway provides a high speed route between Black Horse Pike and Philadelphia.

May 1, 2011 · When I drive across the Walt Whitman, heading towards New Jersey, the part where the bridge is going uphill but it still over land on the Philadelphia side often has a terrible rotting/sewage smell. By the time you get off land and are above the river, the smell is gone, and the Jersey side smells fine.
