These are provided to give an indication of potential flooding based on predictive flood heights at the local river gauge. Simulations identify potential areas of impact as a result of a potential flood event.
The maps to be produced depict the potential extent of flooding from a 1% AEP event and an extreme event that approximates the probable maximum flood. Due to the large scale of many of these river basins, there are data availability and accuracy issues.
The QFMP program involves collecting historical flood information and undertaking flood investigations and flood hazard mapping for up to 100 “at risk” towns in Queensland. Warrill View is located 21.3 km south of Rosewood on the Cunningham Highway.
As part of the Flood Hazard Mapping project, the Authority has engaged Kellogg Brown & Root Pty Ltd (KBR) to prepare flood maps for seven towns. This has been achieved through the preparation of hydrodynamic models.

This report for the Burdekin River Basin outlines the data provided and used in the model, the choice of hydraulic methodology, the hydraulic analysis, including limitations, uncertainties arising from the data, methodology, and recommendations from the study.
The Queensland Flood Mapping Program (QFMP) was developed to implement these recommendations. This Flood Hazard Mapping project is a direct outcome of the QFMP and the current phase of the Flood Risk Mapping project includes the preparation of basin flood mapping for numerous river basins throughout Queensland.
